Badiller vineyard in the Loire Valley: let's talk about it
Pierre Badiller, can you introduce your vineyard?
« The vineyard is located in the Azay-le-Rideau wine region. Its special feature is the “Perruches”: flint-clay soils on tuffeau stone bedrock. They enable the vines to benefit from a well-regulated water and mineral supply and to enjoy the maximum heat from the sun as it is stored by the soil during the day and returned to the vine at night.
Domaine Badiller has been a family-run estate for several generations and was passed down to two young brothers in 2015: Pierre and Vincent. They produce wine in Cheillé, on the hillsides of the Indre, from a 12-hectare vineyard in the Touraine and Touraine Azay-le-Rideau AOCs (controlled designations of origin). Mindful of promoting their inheritance and environment, they make it a point of honour to introduce people to their local grape varieties (Grolleau de Cinq-Mars, Parisienne, Chenin and Cabernet Franc) through their wines. Working in a way that is in keeping with the know-how that has been passed down to them, they also assert their identity as young wine growers by trying to demystify wine traditions. Their self-proclaimed mission is to show you that drinking their wine means sharing good times.»
You will be soon attending the Tastin’France Brussels. What is your message to wine lovers ?
